Recipients of Kupasa Banja Funds

The Phiri Family

Kupasa Banja means “to give to a family” in the local Nyanja language of Zambia. This successful ‘foster a family’ scheme brings hope to over 250 children and caregivers affected by HIV/AIDS in the impoverished communities of Zambia’s capital, Lusaka. In Kupasa Banja, impoverished families are identified by HOPE worldwide Zambia and are linked to a ‘Foster Family’ that contributes funds that are used to buy a food basket for the family in need as well as to pay school fees for the children in that family. Through this scheme, underprivileged families are assisted in meeting their nutritional needs as well as educating the children of the family.
