Safe Motherhood and Youth
Safe Motherhood Action Groups & Youth Friendly Corners
Safe Motherhood Action Groups (SMAGs) and Youth-Friendly Corners (YFC) are projects that are carried out in the four communities that HwwZ operates in. With funding from the Positive Action for Children Fund (PACF) by ViiV Healthcare. SMAGs educates pregnant and breastfeeding women on pregnancy, breastfeeding, caring for babies, maternal care, family planning, and HIV, as well as to encourage them to access health centres in their communities and attend antenatal clinics.
The main purpose of the Youth Groups on the other hand is to educate youths using Peer-to-Peer Educators about HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and to encourage them to live healthy lives and make the right choices. As the name suggests YFC is also about creating a safe space for the Youth to express themselves and discuss matters that are of concern to them.
