Parent Support Groups (PSGs) are organized gatherings where parents come together to share experiences, gain knowledge, and receive both emotional and practical support in raising their children. These groups provide a safe space for parents to discuss challenges and successes, exchange parenting strategies, and build a strong support network.

PSGs educate parents on key topics such as child development, discipline, education, and mental health while promoting positive parenting practices. They also help parents develop coping mechanisms for stress and strengthen family relationships through shared experiences.

In April 2024, after a five-year hiatus, HOPE worldwide Zambia (HWWZ) reintroduced PSGs in Mtendere, reaching 98 mothers and caregivers with training on positive parenting skills. Additionally, 138 children participated in further training sessions focused on child play and development.

The PSG module consists of 10 core topics, covering:

✅ Positive Parenting – Understanding and practicing effective parenting techniques.

✅ Self-Esteem – Helping caregivers build confidence in their parenting abilities.

✅ Discipline vs. Punishment – Teaching non-violent discipline strategies.

✅ And more topics essential for nurturing children in a healthy, supportive environment.

By sharing their diverse experiences, caregivers build a strong community of support,

empowering one another to raise children in a safe, loving, and development-focused

environment.
