Lives we've touched
Stephen Sakala is 22 years old. He is the son of Rosemary Chama and their family have been on the Kupasa Banja sponsorship program since 2007. He is the youngest of four siblings and lives with his mother, sister, and nephew. Stephen’s father died of HIV/Aids in 2005 when Stephen was just 12 years old. His mother’s health was also poor for a long time as she is HIV positive.
Through HwwZ’s support Stephen was able to complete his Secondary Education with good grades. He is currently pursuing a Diploma in Teaching Secondary School Education at Evelyn Hone College that is sponsored by our Studentship Program.
Hazelet Phiri was born in 1958, she is a widow who’s husband died in 2009 due to HIV. Initially she was too afraid to be tested but in 2010, with encouragement from HWW she was. She was positive and now she is receiving anti-retroviral treatment.
Hazel looks after 14 of her 24 grandchildren in a 2 bedroom house. She is active in the Women’s support groups, helping other women to cope with their challenging lives
